Dear Brentwood Families:

Here are some reminders and updates for our week prior to spring break:

  1. Students and staff had an excellent week of STEM Learning with Inside Education. Our students explored aspects of environmental stewardship and focused on reducing their personal paper towel use. I am pleased to report that we had a significant overall decrease in paper towel use at the school that was the equivalent of saving two large trees! We will be continuing to remind students to conserve resources in the months ahead.
  2. We look forward to seeing families at Student-Led Conferences on Thursday, March 19 from 5:00 pm – 7:30 pm and on Friday, March 20 from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM. This is an important opportunity to see your child’s work in the classroom and meet with teachers to discuss next steps in learning. Appointments my be made through MyCBE.
  3. Thank you to Mrs. Lum, Library Assistant, for organizing our spring book fair, which will run during conferences in our main gym. We will have a variety of Scholastic books, magazines, and other items for purchase by debit or credit card. Proceeds from the book fair will support resources for our library collection. Information about our book fair may be found here.
  4. This week, Grade 3-6 students were provided with a parental opt-in form for the human sexuality component of the Physical Education and Wellness curriculum. Teachers typically address these outcomes in June and the forms are sent home well in advance so that parents may make an informed decision about their child’s participation. The topics covered at each grade level that require opt-in consent are described in the form. If you have questions about human sexuality topics, please contact your child’s teacher. They will also be able to answer questions during conferences
