Dear Brentwood Families:

I hope your child(ren) have had a positive first week of school.  It has been wonderful to see so many happy faces when visiting classrooms.

Here are some reminders and updates for the week ahead:

  • This year, Brentwood School is partnering with school council to offer an apple fundraiser with Davison Orchards.  Families are welcome and encouraged to purchase a 15-pound box of farm-fresh apples from Vernon, B.C. The proceeds of $10 per box will directly support new resources for our library collection and music program. Participation in this fundraiser is a perfect way to celebrate fall, support Brentwood School, and bring Okanagan produce directly to your home.  The apples store well and are ideal for daily lunches and after-school snacks. Please see the attached flyer for information; payment is made by e-transfer to school council.  Please include your child’s name and class with the order, which are due by October 2 and will be delivered to the school on October 29. Thank you!  Brentwood School Apple Fundraiser
  • Please ensure your child arrives at Brentwood with a full lunch, water bottle and ample snacks for the morning and afternoon. It is typical for students to eat more as they adjust to school routines after the summer break.
  • Most of our students use charter transportation (yellow school bus) to come to and from our school. We have 13 very busy bus routes! Please take the time to review the following CBE bus expectations with your child(ren):
    • the driver must be respected;
    • while on the bus or at bus stops, students must conduct themselves in a quiet and courteous manner, showing consideration for the comfort and safety of others;
    • while the bus is in motion, students must remain seated facing forward, and must not try to get on or off the bus, or move about within the bus;
    • students must not throw paper or other waste materials on the floor or out of the window of the bus;
    • students must not distract the bus driver with excessive noise;
    We appreciate your support!  Should there be concerns or questions about bus behavior, your driver is the first point of contact.
  • Our ‘Meet the Teacher’ School Conferences will be held on Monday, September 29. Details on how to book a conference with your child(ren)’s teacher will be shared next week.

Wishing your family an enjoyable weekend.

Sincerely,

Rudy J. Stein
