Warm weather is in the forecast for another busy week! Here are some updates and reminders as we look ahead:
Field Trips
Our numerous school field trips continue with our Monday/Wednesday Kindergarten students at the Calgary Zoo on Monday, June 9, and Grade 2 & 4 students visiting Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park on Wednesday, June 11.
Tipi Raising
On Thursday June 12, in honoring Indigenous History Month and Brentwood’s ongoing TRC commitment, we will be having a full-sized Blackfoot style tipi raised on our school grounds along with teachings from Kainai Elder Sheldon Firstrider. Elder Sheldon is a former Glenbow Museum educator at the Niitsitapiisini: Our Way of Life exhibit, as well as the founder of the Blackfoot Language Revival program. Grades 3-6 students will watch the raising of the tipi and learn about the history and science of the Tipi from Elder Sheldon. Grades K-2 students will have an opportunity to sit inside the Tipi and listen to traditional stories from Sheldon. We are excited to bring this exciting opportunity to students.
Volunteer Appreciation Tea | June 13
If you have volunteered at Brentwood School this year, please don’t miss our Volunteer Appreciation Tea on Friday, June 13 from 12 noon to 1:20 pm. The invitation is attached, which includes information on how to RSVP for this event. We look forward to hosting you for student performances, cake, and refreshments.
Field Day | June 20
Brentwood is organizing a Field Day filled with outdoor activities on Friday, June 20. Ms. Levine is needing at least 5 more volunteers to run one of the stations outdoors. If you have a CBE police clearance and are available, please email Ms. Levine at allevine@cbe.ab.ca
Used Uniform Sale | June 20
Friday, June 20 is also the date for school council’s Used Uniform Sale. Please see the flyer for information. New uniform pieces continue to be provided by McCarthy’s. Please see McCarthy's website for information, including the purchasing windows.
School Council AGM | June 24
School Council will be having its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday, June 24 at 7 pm via Zoom. A link will be sent out closer to the meeting date. Council is looking to fill a number of positions for the 2025-2026 school year. Please note that nominating oneself does not guarantee the position, as voting will occur as part of the AGM.
