Dear Brentwood Families:
Beautiful fall weather has finally arrived, and our 827 students are settling well into their September school routines.
Here are some reminders and updates as we look ahead:
Staff Update
Please join me in welcoming Ms. Jeannie Sung Vallee, our new Assistant Principal, who begins at Brentwood on Monday. Ms. Vallee looks forward to meeting students, staff and families next week, including at School Conferences.
Meet the Teacher School Conferences
‘Meet the Teacher” School Conferences are scheduled for Friday, September 25 from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM. This is an opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher and visit their classroom. Shared conference times may be booked beginning on Monday, September 14 at 4:00 PM. The booking system is accessed through MyCBE PowerSchool:
- Once logged in, click the ‘Book and Manage Meeting Times’ icon.
- See our Parent-Teacher Conferences page for booking instructions.
Parent Teacher Conferences
We recognize that not all families may be able to attend conferences on September 25. Please feel free to contact your child’s teacher to arrange an alternate time to connect for a phone call, Teams meeting, or in-person chat. Additional conference windows are scheduled for November 26 & 27, 2026 and March 18 & 19, 2027.
Truth & Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day
Brentwood has planned several learning activities in recognition of National Day for Truth & Reconciliation (September 30 – non-instruction day).
- On Tuesday, September 29, students are encouraged to wear an orange shirt on top of their regular uniform.
- Beginning next week, students will be learning, as age appropriately, about residential schools and their legacy; making a classroom commitment to one of the Truth & Reconciliation Commission actions; and contributing to a visual arts display about how we are all connected.
Terry Fox Run
Brentwood is hosting its Terry Fox Run on Friday, October 2. Tuesday/Thursday kindergarten students will complete their run earlier in the week.
Families are encouraged to make an online donation to the Terry Fox Foundation to support cancer research.
- Using an honor system, students who donate $2 or more may wear casual clothing on the day of the run.
Our goal for this year is to raise $4000.00. Please note we will not be accepting cash donations.
Please see the Terry Fox Parent Letter | 2026 for details about the run.
