Dear Brentwood Families:

Thank you for attending our ‘Meet the Teacher’ school conferences today.  It was encouraging to see so many of our families connect with our staff.  Additional school conferences will be held in November 2026 and March 2027.

Here are some reminders and updates for the week ahead:

National Day for Truth & Reconciliation

Wednesday, September 30 is the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation and there is no school for students.  Information about honoring Truth & Reconciliation in September may be found here:  https://www.cbe.ab.ca/news/honouring-truth-and-reconciliation-this-september

Orange Shirt Day

On Tuesday, September 29, students are encouraged to wear an orange shirt on top of their regular uniform.  Next week, students will be learning, as age appropriate, about residential schools and their legacy and making a classroom commitment to one of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission calls to action.

Terry Fox Run

Our Terry Fox Run will be held on Friday, October 2. Tuesday/Thursday kindergarten students will complete their run earlier in the week. We are once again proud to support the Terry Fox Foundation through our annual Terry Fox Run. Students are encouraged to make donations online, if possible, by October 2. 

Please note that classroom teachers will not be collecting cash or coin donations.  Using an honor system, students who make an online donation of $2 or more may wear casual clothing on the day of the run. Our goal for this year is to raise $4000.00.  Donations may be made through:  https://schools.terryfox.ca/BrentwoodSchoolCalgary

Drop-off and Pick-up

Drop off and pick-up at Brentwood are busy times on the roads near our school.  Please respect the speed limit in our playground zone and do not use our bus zone or staff parking lots for pick-up and drop-off.  Please also respect the bus zone at St. Luke School, which is across the street.  Thank you for your cooperation.
