Dear Brentwood Families:

We had a very successful Terry Fox run today, with the weather cooperating to make for a beautiful fall day outside.  I am also pleased to share that we have exceeded our fundraising goal for the Terry Fox Foundation.  As of this afternoon, our generous community has donated $7,000 to cancer research.  Thank you for your support!

A few reminders and updates as we look ahead:

Grade 6 Vaccinations

Grade 6 vaccinations will occur on Tuesday, October 6 and are administered by public health nurses at the school.  Vaccination consent forms were previously sent home with your grade 6 child.   If you have questions about vaccinations, please contact the Northwest Community Health Centre at 403-943-9767

Brentwood's Truth and Reconciliation Commitment 

Brentwood School has renewed our commitment to the Truth & Reconciliation Commitment (TRC) Calls to Action.  Our commitment is in the attachment and is also posted to our school website.  To support our work with the Calls to Action, Brentwood has developed relationships with several Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers, with whom students will work and learn from this year.  Details about our ongoing work to support the TRC Calls to Action will be shared by your child’s teacher as the year progresses.

Individual Program Plan (IPP)

If your child has an Individual Program Plan (IPP), you will receive their initiated plan on Friday, October 9.  If applicable, please review your child’s IPP and return the signature page only.   IPPs are a living document and will be updated at regular intervals to continue to support your child’s achievement and well-being.  The next update to IPPs will occur in mid-November.

Photo Day 

Looking ahead, our school photo day is Tuesday, October 13.  Individual photos are taken in the fall; class photos in the spring.  Monday/Wednesday kindergarten students only will have their photo taken on Wednesday, October 14.  Students wear formal uniforms for their picture.
